Redesign and Troubleshooting of Remediation Systems | Los Angeles, California

Two neighboring sites owned by the client were impacted with a plume of gasoline released by leaking underground storage tanks. To abate the problem, the client installed two groundwater treatment systems and a soil vapor extraction system. All systems were failing to operate or operated with substantial down-time. A plan to increase process uptime consisted of redesigning the process layout by adding new filters, troubleshoot remote process monitoring, adding instrumentation and control systems for in-line water quality monitoring, modifying operation and maintenance procedures, performing operator training, and preparing operation manuals. The process and procedural improvements resulted in nearly 100% up-time for all remediation systems.
