Bench Scale Testing of Advanced Oxidation for MTBE

Secondary Clarifiers The Merced County of Environmental Health office ordered a gas station located in Los Banos, California to mitigate a plume of MTBE. To mitigate the MTBE in groundwater, an advanced oxidation system was proposed for the Site. The system consisted of an ozone and peroxide groundwater injection system; however, the regulator had concerns regarding the potential release of naturally occurring chromium from the soil into the groundwater in the form of total and hexavalent chromium. To evaluate the potential releases of chromium, a pilot-test was performed using soil samples collected during monitoring well drilling operations and groundwater collected from groundwater monitoring wells.
